Murphy's Law manifested itself in a broken door spring a recent Friday evening. Of course the door was stuck open and the cables were in tangles, so closing the door was not an option. Unhappy with the garage door company I've been using for the past decade, I did a search and the first company to list was Precision Garage Door of San Diego. Excellent ratings and emergency service, so I called to see what it would cost. A dispatcher answered and was very helpful in outlining cost for spring replacement. The best news was that they wouldn't be charging an "emergency" fee and labor cost was rolled into the part cost, which I thought was reasonable. Better yet, she contacted the repairman and he was available that evening. Thirty minutes later I received a call from Kai saying he was on his way, an hour earlier than estimated. Kai showed up and was surprised to see the cables off. But he knew exactly how to fix it, and he didn't mind if I hung out for Garage Door 101. The ensuing hour was excellent with great conversion and an education on how to install door springs. I had a broken spring replaced just 10 years ago but Kai explained this was a cheap galvanized unit. I pointed out how short it was and that it would absorb more load. Kai was impressed I knew that. Having a ME degree helped. Kai proceeded to install high strength oiled steel springs that were 40% longer and rated to 60,000 cycles. They even have higher lifetime springs. Here, the improvement in part quality and focus on fixing it right were self evident by this company. It was also great to see someone happy and excited about using their skills and knowledge to improve another's situation, a rarity in today's world of dissatisfied employees. In this light, Kai and I shared a common bond; thankfulness for being able to do a job right and providing both top notch service and results. Thank you Kai and Precision Door for delivering excellent service and technical door repair. My garage door now works better than it ever has.

Wow, THE best!! I called about my broken garage door in the evening and they were able to come out first thing the next day. Kai was the best! Navigating a not-so-accessible garage door, repairing, explaining, all with the utmost professionalism, and even better, kindness and humor. He gave me a quote before the work, and made the door better than it was before the issue (it got off track due to too much stuff near the tracks). Previous door installers (not Precision) had failed to put any lubricant on it at all. He fixed that and a non-working opener as well. I cannot recommend this company more. Thank you!! You are my only garage door repair company. Highly recommend.
